GENERAL RULES
standard on all forums: please follow the proboards terms of service. how hard is that? not very hard.
02 we will not tolerate rudeness or idiocy of any kind. being a douchebag is a good way to earn a one-way ticket to bansville.
03 this is an advanced-literate rp, meaning that you must bring your a-game. proper spelling and grammar is an essential. we understand that spelling errors are going to happen--we are human, after all (or are we dancer?)--but spell check is definitely a feature that you need to be acquainted with.
04 seriously, don't be an an asshole.
05 those with squeaky-clean morals have been warned: adult themes are permitted. this is the la, baby; some scary shit goes on around here. cursing, drinking, drug use and insinuating sexual acts are permitted, but under no circumstances are you to ever role play the actual act of sex. not only is it against the proboards TOS, but the staff of suffer for fashion don't want to read your smut. if two (or more? or less?) characters happen to hook up, please "fade to black" and timeskip ahead to the next day (or two minutes later in some cases).
06 theft of original character plots, ideas, themes, graphics, etc. without expressed, written and confirmed permission is superlame. don't do it.
07 do not spam and do not advertise outside of the advertising and affiliates subforum.
08 you are permitted to register under any username they desire (what kind of terrible forum nazis would we be if we didn't let people register under the usernames they wanted to?), but please change your display name to your character's first and last name in all lowercase. for example: "desdemona proust", "andy doyle", "topher lane", etc.
09 if you wanna join as a lady, by all means, do so. but once you’ve made two, your next character must be a guy. on sites like this, where most of the players are females who like to play females, it’s hard to maintain a realistic girl-to-guy ratio if we don’t try to enforce it a little. and seriously, playing someone of the male persuasion is not that scary. not being a guy might make them a little difficult to play, but it’s rewarding and stretches your skills out. besides, here’s a little secret from the manly side of the tracks, it’s sometimes really, really fun. end recruitment speech.[/ul][/blockquote]
PROFILE RULES
please use the provided character sheet when filling out an application. do not edit it.
02 be aware that there is a review process in which your character is judged by all staff members. this may take up to a week so, please, be patient and do not pester the staff about your application; it's annoying.
03 this is more like common sense then a rule, but it should still be said: do not create mary-sues and gary-stus. that is really annoying.
05 when making a face claim, use real people (actors, musicians, models, etc.) and not anime pictures. that's retarded. there is a permanent ban on the following faces and they are not allowed to be used: any and all facebook/myspace people (hannah beth, molly steele, j* [although why anyone would want to use j* is baffling], etc.); in addition, you may not use yourself as a pb.
06 if your profile has been rejected, don't throw a world class hissyfit. you're welcome to re-apply to the game but it would probably be a good idea to sit back and grow as a writer before diving back in again. this is not an order, just a suggestion. well, except for the "don't throw a hissyfit" part; that is definitely an order.[/ul][/blockquote]
IN CHARACTER RULES
no godmodding, power-playing, or controlling of other people's characters.
02 if a thread has more than two people in it, please establish a posting order, as that keeps things neat and orderly.
03 altering your posting format is permitted, but don't go crazy. having thirteen billion images and seventy-six different colors and one hundred and four different fonts and different font sizes makes your post look cluttered and ugly. header banners, header text and shit is okay, but just...don't go overboard.
04 when in the in character area, please stay in character. if you feel the need to babble mindlessly, please take it to the out of character area.
05 as mentioned before, adult themes are allowed, such as violence, harsh language, and insinuating sexual situations. if characters feel that they must get it on, please "fade to black" or something.
06 posting minimum is 500 words. if you feel as if you can’t flesh it out in this particular post, believe me, you can. i believe in you! and if you're feeling uninspired, by all means take a break to find your muse again. we all have our off days, but do not make it a habit.
07 no sueporting. your character cannot be in los angeles in one thread and then five minutes later show up in new york city. if your character is traveling, there must be an in character "transitional" thread detailing your character's journey from point a to point b.
08 you may not role play until your character has been reviewed and accepted. if you are caught making in character posts without being accepted, your posts will be deleted and you will be banned.[/ul][/blockquote]
